Shin pain
This is a very common overuse injury in runners and other sports that include high repetition of jumping. There are a number of tissues and structures that can cause pain in the shins including stress fractures, nerve compressions, muscle or tendon strain, so it is important to be assessed by a practitioner who can identify the correct diagnosis.
Our specialist, Matt, has the knowledge to do just that and the skills to build you the correct treatment plan to get you out of injury and back to the activity you love.
Overuse injuries often arise from an underlying mechanical anomaly, or a lack of tissue strength to deal with the repetitive loading. Matt can utilise his extensive knowledge and experience coupled with assessment tools to identify the origin of the problem. Treatment may include bespoke orthoses, footwear changes, activity/training modification, taping, and customised strengthening programs.
Assessment & Treatment May Include:
- Running technique and load review
- Correction of foot posture or leg length discrepancies
- Customised strengthening and mobility program
- Footwear recommendations (with respect of midsole characteristics, stability etc)
- Orthotic therapy for structural correction where needed
- Shockwave therapy
