With the feet being so vulnerable to problems it is imperative that they are expertly looked after.
We can help prevent ulcerations and amputations to feet affected by diabetes, because we are experts in foot care.
We can monitor blood flow into the feet and nerve ending function, which are commonly affected, and also keep a keen eye on any vulnerable areas.
We can tell you all the best tips to keep them safe for as long as possible and advise on safe products to use to improve their health.
Our first task is to establish what your baseline measurements are: how much blood flow is getting into your feet, and how much nerve function is affected? What condition is the skin in? What deformities are present?
We use a device called a doppler to assess quality of flow and arterial health, combined with key observations on skin and nail quality, temperature, capillary refill times, among others.
We also have an Ankle Brachial Pressure kit, which can help us determine whether you need a referral to the vascular team.
We then use a monofilament and a tuning fork to assess detection of fine sensations and also assess for neuromotor changes such as unregulated blood flow and changes in foot shape.
We refer back to these results on a minimum annual basis and will liaise with your primary care team about any changes.
We shall continue to monitor and advise you throughout your journey with us.
To help optimise your foot health for as long as possible, we stock products such as sensory stimulus balls, warming/cooling creams, diabetic socks, high quality foot creams.
